Pentecost Vigil

Pentecost Vigil:  The Church must bring Jesus to a humanity in crisis

Pope Francis puts his certainty of faith down to his grandmother, from whom he first heard the Christian proclamation; to a life changing encounter with Christ at age 17, through a unknown priest who heard his Confession; to his daily praying of the Rosary to his ‘Mother’, Our Lady and to allowing himself to be held in God’s gaze even when he nods off after a tiring day, while in prayer before the Tabernacle.

At 17: 30 the Pope entered the square on his jeep and for a full 30 minutes toured through the throng arriving half-way down the Via della Conciliazione to greet as many people as possible.

The Pope Speaks

The address Pope Francis gave to four new ambassadors to the Holy See

Your Excellencies,

I am pleased to receive you for the presentation of the Letters accrediting you as Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Holy See on the part of your respective countries: Kyrgyzstan, Antigua and Barbuda, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Botswana. The gracious words which you have addressed to me, for which I thank you heartily, have testified that the Heads of State of your countries are concerned to develop relations of respect and cooperation with the Holy See. I would ask you kindly to convey to them my sentiments of gratitude and esteem, together with the assurance of my prayers for them and their fellow citizens.

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Good Morning!

In the Creed we say that Jesus “ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father”. The Jesus’ earthly life culminated with the Ascension, when he passed from this world to the Father and was raised to sit on his right. What does this event mean? How does it affect our life? What does contemplating Jesus seated at the right hand of the Father mean? Let us permit the Evangelist Luke to guide us in this.

From

Archbishop-Patriarch, M. Rev. Filipe Neri Ferrão

“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen!” (cf. Lk 24:5-6) Our hearts overflow with the joy of this announcement and we would like to share this joy with the Christian community and with all people of good will.

Pope's Final General Audience Address.

Venerable Brothers in the Episcopate and in the Priesthood!

Distinguished Authorities!

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

Thank you for coming in such large numbers to this last General Audience of my pontificate.

A heartfelt thanks! I am truly moved! And I see the Church alive! And I think we should also thank the Creator for the beautiful weather that He is giving us today while we’re still in winter.

Pope Speaks on 28th World Youth 2013

                                      MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS

                                            BENEDICT XVI

FOR THE TWENTY-EIGHTH WORLD YOUTH DAY

                                                2013

“Go and make disciples of all nations!” (cf. Mt 28:19)

Dear young friends,

I greet all of you with great joy and affection. I am sure that many of you returned from World Youth Day in Madrid all the more “planted and built up in Jesus Christ, firm in the faith” (cf. Col 2:7). This year in our Dioceses we celebrated the joy of being Christians, taking as our theme: “Rejoice in the Lord always” (Phil 4:4). And now we are preparing for the next World Youth Day, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in July 2013.

                                           PEACE DAY MESSAGE

                                 “BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS”

India dedicates the 30th of January, each year to the revered memory of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, celebrating ‘PEACE DAY’.

In the prevailing social situation all over the World, including our Nation, various de-humanizing occurrences have shattered peace. Our own tiny State of Goa was renowned for peace and harmony among all communities, with due reverence to the dignity and the rights of each and every person. Full respect was given to the environment and ecology of Nature; every effort was made towards its protection and promotion and judicious use was made of all resources. Regretfully today, greed, selfishness, permissiveness and crime reign supreme, in the name of development. All these irrational affronts on the very fiber of social life have created a fearful environment of insecurity, mistrust and doubt. Can anyone celebrate peace in such a violent atmosphere?

Message for lent 2013

                                      MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS

                                             BENEDICT XVI

                                            FOR LENT 2013

"Believing in charity calls forth charity"

“We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us” (1 Jn 4:16)

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The celebration of Lent, in the context of the Year of Faith, offers us a valuable opportunity to meditate on the relationship between faith and charity: between believing in God – the God of Jesus Christ – and love, which is the fruit of the Holy Spirit and which guides us on the path of devotion to God and others.

Golden Verse

1Korintkarank 7:38
