Rosary College re-accreditated with grade 'A'

Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim, has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Bangalore, with an Grade ‘A’ on a Cumulative Grade Point Average score of 3.21 on a 4 point scale. The Peer Team which conducted the Re-accreditation comprised of  eminent academic experts, Prof. Ramakistayya V (Chairman) – Former Vice Chancellor, Osmania University; Prof. P. K. Biswasroy (Member Co-ordinator) – Professor, Department of Commerce, Behrampur University and Dr. Geeta Tiwari (Member) – Former Principal, Government College of Science, Raipur.

The College has made tremendous progress since it was last accredited by NAAC with a B+ Grade in 2005.  Keeping in mind its Mission of `Catering to the Underpriviledged in the Society’ and the Recommendations put forth by the last Peer Team, the College tirelessly worked to enhance the quality of the education imparted to the students.  In addition to academics, the College lays great emphasis on the all round development of the students by imparting value-based education, strict adherence to discipline, encouragement of participation in co-curricular, extra-curricular activities and sports.  To facilitate the teaching-learning process, the Institution has greatly augmented its ICT infrastructure, library resources, classroom facilities and other support services.

During the three-day visit, the Peer Team interacted with the Principal, Rev. Dr. Simão R. Diniz, wherein the Principal enlightened the team about the progress made by the Institution since the last accreditation and the perspective plan for the next five years.  The team also had elaborate interactions with the Management of the Diocesan Society of Education, faculty, administrative staff, students, parents, alumni, and other stakeholders. The Peer Team also examined the documentation and physically verified the support services, to validate the information provided in the Self Study Report submitted to NAAC by the College.

The three day visit concluded with the Exit Meeting during which the Chairman of the Peer Team, Prof. Ramakistayya V handed over the Peer Team Report to the Principal.  

Rosary College is only the third College in Goa to be awarded an Grade ‘A’ since the implementation of the New Grading System by NAAC in April 2007.

The Re-accreditation process was co-ordinated by Assoc. Prof. Smita Naik Fernandes, with the  assistance of the other members of the  Steering Committee - Assoc. Prof. Juao Costa (Vice Principal), Assoc. Prof. Anna Rodrigues,  Assoc. Prof. Audrey Fernandes, Assoc. Prof. Priya Viegas, Asst. Prof. Milton Pires and Asst. Prof. Alison Dias.
