PLASTIC COLLECTION DRIVE - By school children at Assolna
Plastic Collection Drive was organised for the students by the Management of Regina Martyrum High Shool, AssolnaThe Management of Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna, motivated the school students to collect Plastic bags and bottles from their homes, neighbourhood and surrounding areas. This was with an aim to create awareness in children the need to play an important part in the reduction of ‘plastic’ waste.
On Saturday, 9th October, 2010, Scouts students of standard VII, IX and X collected around 2 tempo loads bags of plastic material. The same will be disposed off in a suitable manner with the help of an NGO.The project was guided by Fr. Lucio Dias - Parish Priest Assolna village and the Headmistress of the school. At the end a function was held, the students addressed and made aware how they could make a difference to lessen the present garbage menace.
Certificates of participation would be awarded to all the students who participated. The function was attended by the Parish Priest Fr. Lucio Dias, Fr. Xavier Estibeiro, the Headmistress of the School Mrs. Bona D’Silva and the Scout teachers, Coordinator Ln. Nelson Fernandes and Ln. Joe Almeida.
