Pilar Fathers bridging the gap between rich and poor: CM

 Assagao: Pilar Fathers have bridged the gap between the rich and the poor in Goa and India through education stated Chief Minister Shri Digambar Kamat.

Chief Minister Shri Digambar Kamat was speaking on the occasion of the laying the corner stone for the Agnel Institute of Technology and Design at Assagao on February 13.

Chief Minister expressed happiness for the state of art project. He said, ‘I wish to congratulate the Pilar Fathers for being in the forefront to impart value based education through their various educational centers through the world. For India to be superpower the gap between the rich and the poor has to be reduced and this is possible only through education.’   

“Pilar Father have play important role to try to reduce the gap between the rich and poor. Through quality education for lakhs of students, Pilar Fathers have reduced the gap between rich and poor. And good government should help such institutions” stated Shri Kamat.

Power Minister Shri Aleixo Sequeira speaking on the occasion stated that the Pilar Fathers have sacrificed their life for our children and catered to the youth of Goa.

The Chief Minister, Shri Digamber Kamat, complimented the Agnel Father affiliated to the Pilar Society for their great contribution to the society, in the form of imparting education through their colleges and that to value based education.

Speaking of the occasion, the chief minister stated that this is a prestigious project in the Golden Jubilee year of Goa’s Liberation. Chief Minister also handed over a cheque of Rs. 95 lakhs as the first installment for the project of Agnel Institute of technology and design.

Vicar General Archdiocese of Goa Rev Fr. Jose Remedios Fernandes blessed the foundation stone ceremony and invoked God’s blessing.

Power Minister Shri Aleixo Sequeira said that what Fr Agnel Ashram has done to south Goa, Agnel Institute of Technology and design will do to North Goa. 

Speaking about the quality of Education,  Shri Alexio Sequiera stated that  the values given to the youth along  with educational qualification by the Agnel Ashram is a blind license to get jobs in any part of the world.

Fr. Tony Lopes, the Superior General of the Society of Pilar in the inaugural address stated that the academic activities to provide Degree, Diploma and Certificate courses will start in June 2012. He thanked the Union Ministry of Medium and Small scale Industries for assisting in this great endeavor.

Fr Tony  stated that the land acquisition process started in 1987 and finally after all formalities were complete with regards to 51,000 sq meters of land, the first small project of Agnel Training institute was inaugurated at Assagao last august.

MLA Shri Dayanand Mandrekar speaking on the occasion stated that people of north Goa are fortunate to have such a reputed institute in North Goa.

Regional Superior of the Agnel Region of the Pilar Society Fr. Saturnino Almeida stated that we dedicate the project for the Golden Jubilee of year of Goa’s Liberation and proposed the vote of that thanks.

MLA  Shri Agnel Fernandes, MLA Shri Reginald Lourenco and Chief Secretary Shri Sanjay Srivastava,  Assaagoa Communidade president, Mr Noel D’Souza, Sarpanch of Assagao, Mr Pradeep Naik, priests, sisters, officers and  panch members and large number of people were  present for the occasion.
