NCC Unit Inaugurated at Rosary College

The NCC Unit (Boys and Girls) of Rosary College was inaugurated on 26th July, 2010 at the hands of Col. S. K. Srinivas, Commanding Officer, 3MTR, Margao, and in the presence of the Principal, Rev. Dr. Simão Diniz, NCC Officers Lt. Juao C. Costa, Lt. Shilpa Korde and NCC Boys and Girls Cadets.  The programme began with the lighting of the traditional lamp.

While welcoming the Chief Guest, the Principal highlighted how NCC Cadets can play their role in building national unity and integrity.  He further said that Cadets can bring a change in social, political and economic environment of the country.  He was of the opinion that the NCC must be made as a compulsory subject at the college level.  He requested the Cadets to participate in the NCC activities with zeal and enthusiasm.

The Chief Guest in his inaugural speech briefed the Cadets about various avenues that are open for NCC Cadets in defense as well as in the civil life.   He mentioned that NCC develops other leadership qualities in the Cadets, and inculcates in them the love for motherland.  Further, he said that the Cadets are trained not only in defense related activities but also are made responsible towards the society.  NCC gives an opportunity for the Cadet to visit various places in India as well as outside the country.

Lt. Juao C. Costa administered oath of Commitment to all NCC Cadets.  During the programme, the Cadets performed various cultural activities.  SCUO Gabriel Miranda shared his experience as NCC Cadet.  The programme was compered by JCUO Chuvo Barbosa and Cadet Fauna Gomes.  The vote of thanks was proposed by SCUO Nikita Noronha.  The entire programme was co-ordinated by NCC Officers, Lt. Juao C. Costa and Lt. Shilpa Korde.
