On Sunday, 15th August, 2010, Grace Church celebrated: 1. The INDEPENDENCE DAY, and 2. Seminar on 'CONSUMER RIGHTS, JUSTICE & PEACE'. The Independence Day was celebrated by Flag Hoisting of National Flag at the church compound. The flag was hoisted by the Parish Priest, Fr.Cleto Pereira, at 9 a.m. and many parishioners attended the Flag Hoisting Ceremony. Thereafter at about 10.30 a.m., we had a Seminar on "Consumer Rights, Justice & Peace" and the same was organised by this church in collaboration with Lions Club of Margao Central. The Speakers were welcomed by Lion Walter Colaco.

The main speakers were - (1)  Adv. Jagdish Prabhu Desai, President of Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum, Margao, who laid emphasis on disputes arising between consumer and the business community, particularly when the products fail, and how to redress it with the help of Consumer Forum. (2)  Adv. Joaquim D'Sousa, President of St. More's Lawyers Guild, Margao. He explained the procedures being followed by the Court to settle the cases under litigation and said that for petty matters, one need not/should not go for litigation but rather settle it amicably so as to save time, energy, money and goodwill. Both the speakers requested the audience to ask any queries on the matters spoken by them. They enlightened the audience by their replies. Rev. Fr. Cleto Pereira also spoke on the occasion and thanked all and he said he welcomes this type of seminars as it brings about awareness amongst the parishioners. Vote of Thanks was given by Adv.
