The Constitution of India was amended in 1992 (73rd for Rural India and 74th for Urban India) to ensure Down-top Participatory Governance (through Municipalities and Village Panchayats) with the support of on-going Top-down Legislative and financial dispensations through the Center and the States of the Union.

NCC Unit Inaugurated at Rosary College

The NCC Unit (Boys and Girls) of Rosary College was inaugurated on 26th July, 2010 at the hands of Col. S. K. Srinivas, Commanding Officer, 3MTR, Margao, and in the presence of the Principal, Rev. Dr. Simão Diniz, NCC Officers Lt. Juao C. Costa, Lt. Shilpa Korde and NCC Boys and Girls Cadets.  The programme began with the lighting of the traditional lamp.

Workshop for Parish Bulletin Editors & Reps

 A training workshop on print and digital media was organized for the Parish Bulletin editors at three zonal centres of the Archdiocese. It was held at Don Bosco, Panjim, on July 4th, at St.. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, on 11th July and at Don Bosco Technical Institute, Fatorda, Margão, on 18th July. A total of 65 participants from 30 parishes and from Rachol Seminary participated.

One More Feather in Fr. Bernardo Cota’s Cap

Widely known for his musical compositions and arrangements, his merits were publicly and solemnly acknowledged when the Directorate of Art and Culture of the Government of Goa conferred on Fr. Bernardo Cota the State Cultural Award for the Year 2007-2008. His contribution towards music ranges from original compositions and arrangements. He has to his credit music written for 100 hymns, including bhajans, music for “Our Father” in Sanskrit and four Masses, 10 choral polyphonic rhapsodies, arrangements for 10 operettas, one of which was made into a film. He also participated with a special original composition for “Pater Noster” in Latin, in an International music contest held in Italy. He also authored the Welcome Song to Pope John Paul II, of happy memory, on the occasion of his memorable visit to Goa. This is not to speak of musical programme “Pormollit Fulam” he organized and the compilation of his compositions and arrangements in the form of Book “Sobit Sundori” and 11 albums of Cassettes/CDs.

Review of seminar for editors of church bulletin

A seminar for the editors of church bulletins of parishes in south goa was held at Don Bosco College of Engineering Fatorda on 18th of July 2010.
The emergence of the electronic media has opened up a new chapter in communication. The seminar provided valuable tips and information on launching e-magazines in the Parish which will help Parishes to interconnect with one another and the Archdiocese by uploading on the internet.
