Agacaim villagers took their Patron to Swindon in U.K.
On Sunday, August 1, at Agacaim, after the first novena Mass of their patron St. Lawrence in their Parish Church, the newly made 1m 6inches image of their Patron St. Lawrence the Martyr was blessed. The ceremony was started with prayer and blessing with Holy water by the Asst. Parish Priest Fr. Mariano Travasso, after which the Parish Priest Fr. Johnsie Colaco blessed the image with Saint's relic (very small piece of bone) which is preserved in the Church.
MARCH WITH THE SAINTS - ALTO PORVORIM
Summer vacation is a time for fun and learning for all ages. Keeping this in mind the Yourth for Christ ministry of Couples for Christ, Porvorim, conducted a programme for children in the age group 4-10 years titled "A March with Saints".This programme for the children was an intoroduction on the life of Saints which was held at the Deepti Sadan, Pilar Generalate on 15th August, 2010 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The entire group of 25 children was divided into 3 smaller groups who moved through an activity related to 3 saints, namely Fr. Francis Xavier, St. Francis of Assisi & St. Christopher.
News from Mother of God Parish, Pomburpa
In Pomburpa Parish there will be a Medical Camp in which Osteotherapist Doctors will come and treat patients free of charge on 29th of August, Sunday, 2010 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. All those suffering from various bone diseases like creaking knees, pain in joints, etc. are requested to avail of this opportunity. Contact the Parish Priest for details. The Camp will be in the Church Dispensary.
Catechetical Seminar at Rachol Seminary
The Catechetical Association of Rachol Seminary organized a seminar for the catechists of Margao Deanery on 8th August, 2010 at 3.00 p.m. in the Seminary auditorium. Around 470 catechists participated. To break the ice and set catechists in mood, the seminarians conducted a few action songs. This was followed by the words of welcome by the President of the Catechetical Association, Sem. Benny Costa. The Animator, Fr. Romeu Godinho, presented significant tips on ‘being an ideal catechist’. He stressed that one should have sound knowledge of his work, ministry and responsibility, in order to effectively proclaim Christ to the students.
