Vocation Sunday was observed in our Parish on 19th September 2010 with a programme for our Catechism students. It was heartening to see a large number of children in attendance.
The children were formed into two groups: the girls aged 13 and above were given a talk by the Handmaids of Christ sisters, in the old parochial hall. With the help of a PowerPoint slide-show, they explained the life and calling of a religious to the young girls.
The rest of the children aged 8 and above were seated in the hall for a programme led by Fr. Antonio Albuquerque.
CHRISTIAN VALUES AT RACHOL SEMINARY
In view of its Fourth Centenary Celebration and keeping in mind the Year dedicated to Blessed Joseph Vaz with focus on Christian Values, Rachol Seminary organized a Bible Course for lay faithful on the topic ‘Parables of Jesus and Christian Values’ for three consecutive Sundays. Around 180 members of the lay faithful actively participated in the Course.
The Course began with a meaningful ceremony of the Enthronement of the Word which conveyed a powerful message on the importance and relevance of the Word of God, which is a light to our path. Thought-provoking and Enlightening inputs were given by Frs. Simiao Fernandes, Polly Lobo and Seminarians Marcelino Rodrigues, Elvis Dias and Leo Fernandes. The use of videos, power-point programs, enactment of the parables, posters, life-situations, etc. contributed to the deepening of the knowledge of the Gospel Parables and made it easy for the participants to draw out Christian Values from the same. The meaning, purpose and importance of the parables was rightly highlighted.
Pastors’ Day was celebrated on the 4th of August 2010 in our Parish. The celebration began with the Holy Eucharist which was well attended, both by the priests and the lay faithful. It was a pleasant sight to see many people wishing their pastors happy innings in life as a priest.
