-Diocesan Family Service Centre,
building happy, healthy and holy families since 1976

As we go along in our daily life, glance through the newspapers or view the various soap operas/TV serials, we find that respect for life is on the decline. The culture of death is promoted without considering its consequences. Killing of the Unborn and disregard for life is on the rise. There are more abortions than the number of deaths worldwide.
• WORLDWIDE (2008): Approximately 42 Million, i.e. approximately 115,000 per day, 3 every 2 secs.
• INDIA (2008) (TOI): 6.41 lakh abortions, i.e. 12/minute or 1/5secs. Daily 150,000 unborn children are slaughtered.
• In GOA (2008): 930 abortions i.e. 1/10hours.

Press Release (Regional Plan 2021)

The Council for Social Justice and Peace (CSJP)

The Council for Social Justice and Peace (CSJP), after wide consultations with Citizens and qualified and competent professionals, cannot accept the Regional Plan 2021 in its present form. The CSJP is convinced that the failure on the part of the Government to comply with the demand that Local Bodies should be empowered (legally) to be directly involved in the mapping and development planning of the concerned villages and towns, with the assistance of Government deputed planners and technicians resulted with the Government having to de-notify the RP 2011. The RP 2011 prepared by Consulting Engineering Services (I) Pvt. Ltd. lacked transparency, threatened to destroy ecology, livelihood and culture and also make large-scale demographic changes to the villages.

Pastoral Year

The Inauguration of the XXXIX Course of Pastoral Studies

The inaugural ceremony of the XXXIX Course of Pastoral Studies (Nov. 2011 – April 2012) at the Pastoral Institute, Old Goa was held on an auspicious day - 11/11/11. The theme that would run through the entire course was formulated as “Yadnik xrixtti polleta, Deva mog onnbhovta”, The main purpose of having such celebration was to set the tone for the Pastoral Course. Our Archbishop Patriarch Most Rev.Filipe Neri Ferrao invoked  God’s blessings at the Eucharistic celebration, and the eleven Pastoralites (the newly ordained Priests) sought God’s assistance to live up to their ordination logo through a symbolic offering of a potted plant. In his homily, the Archbishop reflected on three biblical images portrayed in Jesus’ ministry - Servant, Steward and Shepherd. Dwelving  on these images, he said that a priest should cultivate the virtue of simplicity and humility to become a true Servant; strive to be holy and work with responsibility to become a Steward, and live the qualities of love and kindness to become a Shepherd unto the heart of Jesus.
