It is hereby informed that the anticipated CHRISM MASS will be held on 26th March, 2015 (Thursday), in the ‘Sé Catedral’, Old-Goa, Goa, at 10:00 a.m.
This Mass, which the Bishop celebrates with his presbyterium and at which the oils are blessed, manifests the communion of the priests with their Bishop. It is, therefore, desirable that, to the extent possible, all the priests from different parts of the Archdiocese take part in it.
Those wishing to concelebrate at the Chrism Mass are kindly requested to inform the Dean of their respective Deanery by 16th March, 2015 the latest. They are further requested to bring along their own alb, stole and cincture and to be present in the sacristy at 9:30 a.m.
A- MONTHLY MEETING FOR PRIESTS
The next monthly meeting for priests will be held on 12th, 19th, 26th February (Thursday), 2015 at Mapusa, Old Goa and Margao Centres, respectively.
The theme for the Meeting will be: Being prudent in our relationships

Taal 2015, the Inter-religious dialogue session, an initiative of Sanvordem Local House of Pilar Fathers, began with a welcome address by the Local Superior Fr. Joaquim Rebello to the representatives of various religions and the gathering as he said that it is essential and good to come together as there is so much that unites us, binds us and makes us one family of God’s children. He further said that Taal, a step towards harmony must help us to respect one another, serve one another, increase peace, justice and progress in the Society.
Old Goa: Institute of Mater Dei (IMD) is helping the religious women to develop critical thinking, all in view of mission, besides preparing them to meet modern challenges, says Daughters of St Paul Sister Pauline Chakkalacakal, who teaches Bible at the Institute.
IMD, she told Matters India, provides facility to have integral formation among women religious. “Theological formation also should help the women religious to critique certain irrelevant traditions, practices within the Church which are maintained in the name of theology. The nun was speaking after attending the golden jubilee celebrations of the institute on January 5.
The IMD was created in 1964 to empower the Religious women to face the challenges of modern world and make their life beautiful in the service of the church and humanity.

The 51st Annual Prize distribution and Variety entertainment programme of St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa was held on December 22nd with lot of zeal and enthusiasm. The Chief Guest for the function was Rev.Dr. Francis Carvalho, Superior General, Society of St. Francis Xavier, Pilar.
Logo for the Year of Consecrated Life
The logo for the Year of Consecrated Life was designed by painter Carmela Boccasile, an iconography expert who skillfully interprets traditional languages in new and modern terms.
The logo is meant to symbolically express “the unceasing work of the Holy Spirit, who in every age shows forth the richness of the practice of the evangelical counsels through a multiplicity of charisms, in this way making the mystery of Christ ever present in the Church and in the world, in time and space” (VC 5).
Pilar: A collection of 101 poems titled ‘Lead me on… path to contemplation’ was released by Mrs Alina Saldanha, Minister for Forest and Environment, Government of Goa during the closing ceremony of the Pilar Artfest on January 5.
Speaking as the chief guest during the occasion, Mrs Alina Saldanha stated that in a materialistic and competitive world, we constantly seek to prove we are better than others and forget that we are created unique. The poems reflect the longing of every human soul to find refuge, peace and happiness as we live on earth.
Loutolim: Sr. Isabel De Souza was elected as the President of the Pilar Sisters (PSA) commonly known as Pilar Sisters at the XXII General and Elective Assembly at their Headquarters in Loutolim held on October 28.
For the election 34 members of the PSA had gathered from October 23 – 30 for the General elective assembly held every two years.
Along with Sr. Isabel De Souza (Batim), the new team includes Sr. Nina Lopes (Chinchinim) and Sr. Estelina Dias (Batim) as the first and the second Councillor respectively.
Pilar: Nine candidates for priesthood were ordained as deacons by Archbishop-Patriarch of Goa and DamanBishop Filipe NeriFerrao at the Pilar Seminary Chapel on October 26. From the nine deacons, eight belong to the Society of Pilar and one for the Diocese ofBethiah in Bihar.
Speaking on the occasion, Bishop Filipe Neri stated that the challenge is not only to believe the word of God but to live it out in our lives, surrendering ourselves totally and joyfully to do God's will whatever be the price whether people accept or betray you.
A deacon is a symbol par excellence of service of Jesus and the Church. The special duty of a deacon is service at the altar, service of the word and service of charity.
Blessed Joseph Vaz will be proclaimed Saint on January 14, 2015

(Vatican) Pope Francis announced on Monday that Blessed Joseph Vaz, the Apostle of Sri Lanka, will be declared saint on Jan. 14, 2015. It will take place during his visit to the island nation Jan. 13-15. He fixed the canonization date at the start of the consistory of cardinals in the Vatican convoked to update the prelates on the situation of the Christians of the Middle East, especially in Iraq and Syria, and the commitment of the Church for peace in the region. Another canonization date - that of Italian Sr. Maria Cristina of the Immaculate Conception - has not been decided.
ON-GOING FORMATION FOR PRIESTS
The next joint-monthly meeting for priests will be held on 13th November (Thursday), 2014 at the Pastoral Institute, Old Goa.
1. The theme for the Meeting will be: “Marital Issues faced by the spouses: a pastoral response from our priests”. The initial prayer will be at 10.00 a.m. at the Conference Hall of the Pastoral Institute, to be followed by the input talk and interaction.
2. It will be followed by the usual General Body Meeting of “Monte Pio de Clero” members. All diocesan priests are kindly requested and encouraged to attend the same.
Navelim, Salcete – Goa
The Department of BBA (Travel & Tourism) of Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim organized a One Day State Level Inter- Collegiate Event ENTRADA’14 on the theme, “Tourism & Community Development” on 30th September, 2014 from 9:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m at Margao Cricket Club Hall, Margao.
The function began with the lighting of the traditional lamp. The Principal, Rev. Dr. Simão R. Diniz welcomed the gathering; he stressed on the importance of involving the local community in the development and how unity among the community can bring about a change in the development of mankind. Course Coordinator of BBA(T&T), Asst. Prof. Maya Talwadker introduced the event to the audience.
