“Folklore is nothing new but something of the past which we have to hand over to the next generation”, this was joyfully said by Dr. Jayanthi Naik, who was the chief guest for ‘Amchem Daiz-10’, a Konkani seminar, organized annually by Literary and Cultural Association of Rachol Seminary (L.A.C.A.R.S.) in collaboration with Goa Konkani Academy on February 26th, 2015 in the seminary auditorium. The other dignitaries that were present were Pundalik Naik, president of Goa Konkani Academy, Rev. Dr. Aleixo Menezes, the Rector of Rachol Seminary and Rev. Dr. Victor Ferrao, the animator of L.A.C.A.R.S.

In response to the Appeal from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India and the Circular of the Archbishop of Goa and Daman and Diu (CP-Cir/176/2014) urging the Pastors and Superiors of educational and other religious institutions for Solidarity and contribution towards National Disaster victims of floods in Jammu and Kashmir, we wish to share the information with regard to the contribution from the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman.
Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim hosted its XXI Annual Athletic Meet on 13th February, 2015, at Rosary Church Grounds, Navelim, at 9.00 a.m. The Annual Athletic Meet was compared by Ms. Alison Quadros and Ms. Maria Muriel de Barros. The Chief Guest for the event was Shri Manoj Hede, the Director of Physical Education at G.R. Kare College of Law, Margao. The Inaugural of the Athletic Meet commenced with a Flag Drill Called ’Parade Par’ performed by Senior Under Officer Mr. Sanju Trikonni,, the boys’ Senior Under Officer Mr. Emberson D’ Silva and the girls’ Senior Under Officer Ms. Sana Deshur, which was followed by the opening song titled’ Some Nights’ sung by the Rosary Chorale group.
“Education Nurtured in the Family, Transcends self, Transforms society” is the Theme that ushered in the celebration of the ‘ALL GOA CATHOLIC EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS’ DAY ‘ on the 13th Feb.2015 at Kala Academy, Panaji.
After the arrival of the guests , Sr. Monica Coelho, the Headmistress of St. Xavier’s Academy, Old Goa began the prayer service with the help of PowerPoint presentation of the song “The power of a dream” and the prayer dance beautifully presented by its hearing impaired students.

It is hereby informed that the anticipated CHRISM MASS will be held on 26th March, 2015 (Thursday), in the ‘Sé Catedral’, Old-Goa, Goa, at 10:00 a.m.
This Mass, which the Bishop celebrates with his presbyterium and at which the oils are blessed, manifests the communion of the priests with their Bishop. It is, therefore, desirable that, to the extent possible, all the priests from different parts of the Archdiocese take part in it.
Those wishing to concelebrate at the Chrism Mass are kindly requested to inform the Dean of their respective Deanery by 16th March, 2015 the latest. They are further requested to bring along their own alb, stole and cincture and to be present in the sacristy at 9:30 a.m.

Taal 2015, the Inter-religious dialogue session, an initiative of Sanvordem Local House of Pilar Fathers, began with a welcome address by the Local Superior Fr. Joaquim Rebello to the representatives of various religions and the gathering as he said that it is essential and good to come together as there is so much that unites us, binds us and makes us one family of God’s children. He further said that Taal, a step towards harmony must help us to respect one another, serve one another, increase peace, justice and progress in the Society.
Old Goa: Institute of Mater Dei (IMD) is helping the religious women to develop critical thinking, all in view of mission, besides preparing them to meet modern challenges, says Daughters of St Paul Sister Pauline Chakkalacakal, who teaches Bible at the Institute.
IMD, she told Matters India, provides facility to have integral formation among women religious. “Theological formation also should help the women religious to critique certain irrelevant traditions, practices within the Church which are maintained in the name of theology. The nun was speaking after attending the golden jubilee celebrations of the institute on January 5.
The IMD was created in 1964 to empower the Religious women to face the challenges of modern world and make their life beautiful in the service of the church and humanity.

Logo for the Year of Consecrated Life
The logo for the Year of Consecrated Life was designed by painter Carmela Boccasile, an iconography expert who skillfully interprets traditional languages in new and modern terms.
The logo is meant to symbolically express “the unceasing work of the Holy Spirit, who in every age shows forth the richness of the practice of the evangelical counsels through a multiplicity of charisms, in this way making the mystery of Christ ever present in the Church and in the world, in time and space” (VC 5).
